This thread is to discuss some ideas where this forum can be self moderating. I believe that even in a self moderating forum there should be some sort of hierarchy and established rules. But these rules should be easy for the moderators to enforce.

If it's technically possible:
Every user would get MOD POINTS. Moderators would get 10 points per vote, sub-moderators would get 5 points per vote, reputable users would get 2 points per vote, regular users would get 1 point, and new users would get 0 points. Who gets to be in each category can be determined by the Admin.

MOD POINTS would be like a "Hide This Post" vote. If a post gets 30 MOD POINT votes, then it gets moved to a locked forum. Users can still chose to response to the post in the locked forum, but they will be locked out for 30 minutes after each post mode in the locked forum. They can use their judgement whether or not they want to respond to it.

That's why I don't suggest equal votes. The moderators and sub-moderators would have more power. There will be some resemblance to what current moderation looks like, without the absolute decision focused on one person.

this is a user supported site that the users of a defunct forum got together and created. thats not exactly a guest/host situation

conservatives never know what they are talking about because of their backward beliefs and wrong thinking cultural assumptions

no one is saying they're entitled to run the site, but what's wrong with everyone having a say or with input being valued? if the admins agree to it, why is it a problem? why oppose something so trivial and non=partisan on political grounds?

I think we have had a say. How many times have we lobbied to bring back Saz, Com, Ex? As many times as we've lobbied to ban Saz, Com, and Ex I'd say. At this point, papa daddy Uber has been burnt out and our surrogate parents Winchester and NAB pretty much let us eat our boogers and play in our own shit. Too much bitching round these part of late IMO. We need more crashing rockets vids from Spider too.
