Should I give the babysitter a gun?

Wife and I are going out of town for the weekend and will be leaving our kids with a babysitter. I finally got a gun two weeks ago because it'll help me protect my family in the unlikely case that we're attacked. But since I won't be there to protect my family, should I give the gun to someone who might be able to or encourage her to bring a gun with her? Babysitter is a 17 year old girl who probably shoots better than my 4 year old daughter.
Question to you:
1. Would you ever leave kids with a babysitter for the weekend?
2. Should you arm babysitter to protect kids?

The rights protected by the Second Amendement trump your right to take a vacation. Chuck Heston will pry those plane tickets from your cold dead hands.

Clearly, the gun is too prone to user error. Claymore mine perimeter should do the trick.

Move to a place where the babysitter don't need a gun.
