He watched a couple episode of Parks and Rec, then flipped over to Better Call Saul. Later, he took in some late night Walker Texas Ranger and half a Colbert Report.
Then it hit him: Law school.

That second commercial with the breathalyzer reminds me of that episode of the Wire where the cops get the kids to snitch on each other by tricking them into thinking the xerox machine was a lie detector.

Yeah I mostly agree. But query if minor versus adult matters. Adults tend to give up their rights inadvertently too. It's two things - people are ignorant, and cops are savvy.
I entirely agree there's a line between smart tricks and exploitation, my point is more that exploitation might be as big a problem with adults as kids.
Different note, my old firm had a program that involved telling kids about their constitutional rights that I was a part of for the years I was there. It went like this:
Day 1:
"Alright, so my name's Dylan, I'm a blah who was born in blah blah blah blah blah. So I'm here to tell you about the Constitution. First, does anybody know what the Constitution is?
Kid: "Hey, what should I do if I get arrested?"
Me: "We can talk about your rights under arrest once we get to the Fourth and Fifth Amendments, but let's start with the basics - do you know what the Constitution is?"
Kid 1: "Whatever".
Day 2: Alright, so let's talk about the First Amendment and your speech rights. So the First Amendment basically - yes, sorry did you have a question"?
Kid 2: "What if i get caught with weed?
Me: "Damnit."
Repeat.
Day 6:
"Alright, so like I said last time if you get caught in a car with less than 40g what you should do and say is.....".

Yeah glad you gave in. Those kids don't want a con law lesson and will likely never have any use for it. Good job coming around to giving them real practical advice.
And I agree that adults are often just as gullible, but doing it to a kid just seems worse. Adults SHOULD (but in reality often don't) understand that they need a lawyer's help. With kids I don't think it's even reasonable to expect that. In any non-police related encounter with authority (parents, principal, etc) they're taught to explain themselves directly without anyone's help.

Not guilty by reason of sanitation. Throw in a couple of happiest corpses and it all becomes a mutated point.
