it was made my a canadian software engineer who discovered a way to match a consistent tone on the underlying audio, clean it all up, and get it all together, applying it to all 11,000 hours of tape. he was given a job by nasa, they said, "It would be easier if you just worked here". his work on this helped with the full restoration of the mission control room in houston
I saw that room a few years ago. they were doing some work, i didn't realize they were restoring everything there
