Tornados are fo real

Almost got hit by one the other night. Based on the debris path I drove past this morning, it was less than a half mile from me.
Got lucky and had no damage, but we all got into a closet when the sirens went off the other night, so my kids now have that memory like happened to me when I was about their age. I haven’t had that close a tornado call since I was about 12.
Day 2, no power.
End report.

Stay safe. But if you do get disappeared by a tornado, please take a selfie by the yellow brick road.

While I do like to joke, this destruction, while localized, was for real. Seeing homes and businesses you recognize or frequent destroyed is kind of a surreal feeling. My daughters school is just blocks away from an area that got clobbered, but we’re lucky it had minor damage and has been closed only due to lack of power. Couple of other schools near us (and we know kids who go there) are a complete loss. One complete feeder pattern primary-high school was wiped out.
It’s isolated in the damage but it was one of those finger of god leaving a smudge mark down the middle of Dallas, and it included my personal hood. I didn’t realize how close it was to us until this morning which gives me a guilty sense of relief.
