This is one win for Samsung in a long legal battle. A jury earlier awarded Apple $1.05 billion in damages after winning a patent infringement lawsuit against Samsung, a ruling that has since been appealed by the Korean firm. Based on the ruling, Apple has also asked to ban sales of other Samsung smartphones in the U.S.

They overturned the ban on importation of the Galaxy Nexus or some other equally shitty dumb device.

They did not overturn the Billion + dollar verdict awarded to Apple.

All that really does is illustrate how stupid it is that you can legally patent stuff that basic.

It really is obvious that Sammy is aping the hell out of that phone, though. It would be one thing if it was just a few design flourishes, but damn...you can almost take a ruler and measure out proportions and get the same ratios.

That said, the Apple fanbois, being so assured of the superiority of their devices (and it seems to be personal to them, as if the device were somehow indicative of themselves) should really calm down and not worry about the vastly inferior competition.

Its like fundies freaking out when some geologist digs up a rock that is 3 billion years old. If its really that ridiculous, they'd just laugh it off and pay no mind.

The market can saturate from anything, even quality. Apple forced Samsung to make a quality product, and now they're gonna have to go a different direction to differentiate, because as stupid as it is to have a phone that transfers things by "tapping" (so f**k retarded) , the S3 is a very good phone, and is visually and structurally of a high quality.

Copyright laws and IP needs to evolve with the times- I find the current laws to be hopelessly outdated.
