the blowtorch guy was a sleeper agent for al-queada. i think it's the only instance of for sure terror plot stopped by NSA? i think that's the one?
as for padilla's status of enemy combatant, it's arguable he was, considering ex parte quirin. the problem is lack of state actors for these enemies of the state.
anyway, you seem to think that he pled out to lesser charges. sure, okay, he did plead out to lesser charges than these other men. but you seem to think that there for sure must be another motive other than "there isn't enough evidence" for this guy compared to the other guys. look, it's not my fault a bunch of a-rabs want to blow up random americans more often then crazed rednecks want to burn down mosques. so there just isn't a pattern to be seen since there's just not that much of this kind of thing
