Along with the industrial revolution came industrial evolution. All that time the govt and industry evolved to the point of being conjoined twins. Industry's bottom line is profit, and their gov't arm insures they get it.As for commie,non-commie, does it really matter in our new welfare nation?

That's a good point: ostensibly the gov't is there to try and provide its citizens with the best standard of living.

That has now completely changed where their only mission is to provide corporations with a sweet standard of living, never mind what it means for the citizens.

As somebody once said: gov't's role is to protect the people from special interests but it now protects the special interests from the people.

If you're a corporation, though, this isn't playing the long game because if things keep getting worse ultimately the people will take matters into their own hands if the gov't won't act on their behalf.

Even if the world was the size of jupiter we would get to the same place we're at now eventually. Humans are the stewards of the world, not its owners.On and up, more, more, more. Plenty for all, forever. Finite says otherwise. Sustainability, we need to learn that.

Taxation is how you force humans to retain their contributive duty, when fiat currency replaces need-based value of food and tools. There is no way around it, unless you completely destroy global economics, and return to communities where a farmer is cast out of a community if he's too lazy to farm, and a cobbler is cast out of a community if he's too lazy to cobble.

It's an internet meme made by an idiot.. and you have to stretch it pretty hard to connect it to communism, even though both this sign and communism are equally dim-witted.

Modern technological society simply doesn't require a contribution from each individual to function so that thinking is outmoded.

And of course the work discipline required by market economies is far less than what it would be in a free community where workers manage the means of production themselves. But the bright side is many hands make light work, and being a living part of a human community who gets to enjoy the product of his labors is far more fulfilling than being a beast of burden.

Most labor supplied today is to keep the market system working. We are a giant network of service sector providers: cashiers, waiters, bartenders, back-room stockers, merchandisers, advertisers, bankers, etc. How many people are actually engineers, doctors, technicians, and other professionals?

When you really look at the numbers and think about how this labor could be utilized elsewhere, you start to question the entire system - and not just taxation, but why 'work' is necessary.
