Its just a cycle, . Now we're on the downside, people just assume prosparity will last forever, but when we do things that increase profit for the few like automation, outscourcing jobs to cheap labor countries, letting alot of cheap labor in. We have done all of those things and it just shortens the prosparity cycle even more. My guess is we're headed fo a long plateau of welfare aided existence for most. Not for humanitarian reasons, but to keep the massive new crop of peasents just far enough away from the edge of desperation so they won't revolt.

man that link is cool. if i had nothing else i guess i've saved enough already so that it's only 6% if i retire at 65 (i'm currently contributing 10% + 5% employer match). but i also got a pension of 30K a year coming my way too if i never get a raise and retire at 65 from same company and at 2% a year raise it goes to 80k lol (ive increased my pay by 95% from what i started at 7 years ago, so 2% may be on the low side)

When Im done in about a year, I won't be Warren Buffet wealthy, but have enough to get by. And thats all that matters to me anyway. My plan was simple, don't live beyond your means so you don't become a slave to your stuff. And over the years, i've collected alot of stuff,lol.

Well, I've bought into chocolate, alcohol and tobacco. But even that's only about 6%.
