I think as long as the election system revolves around "all or nothing," you will have a problem.
The Western world really, really needs proportional representation.

Sorry - I didn't mean we had proportional representation. I meant that we had a mechanism to protect the minority from the predations of the majority.

I think they should take the straight party line vote off the ballot. Then people would actually have to go through the entire ballot. The easy button has no place on a ballot anyway.
The hardest part of doing nothing is knowing when your done.
