This is just another installment of attention deflection. The western nations, in particular the US, have thier own human rights abuses. It's not the US's concern what the DPRK does. Unless the DPRK attacks the US, it's a non-issue.

If things are so bad there, the people can decide to rise up themselves and do something about it. If it gets so bad then no amount of brainwashing will prevent widespread revolt. And China is becoming more and more liberalized. So the North's days are numbered.

The US has it's own "camps" and abuses that haven't been addressed by any serious expose or outcry. The entire drugwar and it's accompanying police state tactics for beginnings. The US incarcerates more of it's own citizens than any other nation on earth, a fact which has been brought up repeatedly by Chinese diplomats when the US wags it's sanctimonious finger at thier human rights record.

Cities like Detroit which resemble third world hellholes are ignored and waved away while politicos in washington point fingers at other nations and decry thier "abuses"

NK is holding Seoul hostage. There's a reason nothing has been done, and it's largely because nothing can be done.
In the event of an outbreak of hostilities, every single military wargame scenario I've heard has Seoul getting leveled to the ground, or at least heavily hit. The economic, cultural center and most densily populated area of the entire peninsula. It would be an unmitigated disaster for SK. And as others have pointed out, for the chinese, who are the best hope of influencing the NK "government", but so far seem to have no incentive to do so.
