I vote against every local official who supports more cops on the street or is endorsed by the police union. Most local elections nothing much matters but it's good sticking it to any candidate that wants the support of these thugs.

That's what I'm saying: it's not the number of cops--with regard to the OP--that is the issue, it's the powers they've been given or in many instances that they weren't.
But getting it back on track: HUGE prison population (#1 worldwide!), SWAT teams running amok, a senseless war on drugs and unchecked spying by the NSA.

aside from the interest juggernaught any person taking on King LEO will have another problem; since we went all gestapo on everybody the crime rate has gone way down.
