Lobbying isn't effective when you timidly ask politicians to do what you want because it's the right thing to do. You're supposed to get people thrown out of office when they oppose you. That's how it works.

btw...if a potential surgeon general is advocating the AWB (something that is not in any way shape or form a major health issue) than the NRA is very much right to oppose him.

gun violence has been decreasing indy, so would you then agree that "arming everybody" appears to be working?

Indy: "WHY ARE YOU POINTING THAT GUN AT ME?!?!?!?!!"
NRA: "Sorry, what? I'm not even armed. We just don't want to talk about stuff we can't and won't support. There is no point."
Indy: "YOU ARE INTIMIDATING ME! YOU ARE THREATENING ME! WHERE IS MY RAPE WHISTLE!?!?!?!"
NRA: "Jeez, listen, you really need to calm down. There is no reason to blow this out of proportion."
Indy: "ARE YOU THREATENING TO BLOW ME UP?! YOU CAN'T SCARE GIFFORD AND YOU WON'T SCARE ME."
NRA: "Sir, you're going to have to leave."
Indy: "ALLAH DEMOKRATBAR!"
