сука блять, Russia is not socialist, nor is it communist. "social media" is defined as "websites and applications that enable users to create and share content". basically, facebook, twitter, etc. these types of things are perfect incubators for people bouncing the same insane messaging off of each other. russia and how it abused that was that fake news headlines and comments agreeing with the same were blasted on social media and since it was a giant echo chamber where people who disagree are blocked or leave on their own, this gets amplified. this is great when you're talking about your experience at that new mcdonald's restaurant in town or whatever social media rubes like to talk about; as something to gossip about things that impact you and your small circle of inconsequential friends, yeah it's great. but it's not good when they start talking about stuff that they have no business talking about, like vaccinations, public policy, or trigonometry
