The biggest problem I see with Ron Paul Republicans is that most of them seem to be in a cult of personality, not so much wedded to Paul's specific ideology as they are just enthralled with him as a character. He could come out to a rally in Texas and say anything, advocate anything, even if it flies in the face of his usual states-rights philosophy, and a pretty sizable chunk of his devoted audience (maybe even the majority in attendance) would accept it without question. That's not to say Paul himself isn't incredibly consistent with keeping to his general political philosophy, because he certainly is.........I'm just saying if he wasn't, his cult followers wouldn't notice it much.
