Yeah but there are a few problems here, notably (a) you're factually wrong, the Catholic Church has numerous programs to assist refugees; (b) the Vatican has a population of 500, which doesn't really lend itself to resettling refugees in any great number and (c) since when is the Pope "liberal" and by what definition?
As for your email chain forward stories:
(a) Macro policies are macro. Asking individuals to make an individual sacrifice of their position at a university is a crap "gotcha" technique.
(b) I don't see the irony in the second email chain forward anecdote. What's the "gotcha" here that you're shooting for?
