To put themselves into a position to be so easily swatted while working at a level that got approval from on high in the Kremlin....? Makes no sense at all. They're Russians...not suicidal religious fanatics. They should know better than to scream "This is Sparta!" and charge into American artillery and air support like idiots. I mean...the article says they were basically wiped out by Apaches. Which aren't quiet or sudden or subtle.

Talked to some buddies in the profession. These russians were likely sacrificed to test US resolve OR they made a major (almost unbelievably bad) tactical error and were unaware they were engaging a fortified US position.

Engaging a fortified US position is suicide in the best of circumstances. Without even a modicum of air support or anti AA it's literally suicide.

As our Russian friends discovered.

The guy I'm close with and talked to this about said he was jealous of the air support getting a turkey shoot f**k love these guys man
