Frankly, I don't think he's losing the war. He's politicizing the entire institution as a whole now. Media has become part of the story instead of being merely the thing that reports it.
This is definitive democratic backsliding. And yes, he's also covering up the WSJ reports about a GOP operative potentially coordinating with Flynn to get Hillary's hacked emails from Russian hackers. If I'm a wrestling fan and I see The Donald close-lining a CNN mockup...I'm gonna laugh. Because wrestling. Perception is key.

If I see trump releasing a childish gif, my reaction isn't to laugh, it's to roll my eyes at this being the President of the United States. He has made a mockery of the office. It's not funny.
