Well, you said that there would never be an assembly plant here. Clearly there already is. Also said that the things were always assembled here...but they weren't.

Sounds like Apple is doing exactly what they said they were going to do....so....not sure that meshes so well with your argument....

I didn't say "always," I said "already." I knew as of last year they were being assembled in the US. At least certain ones.

I never said there wouldn't be an assembly plant, I said there wouldn't be a manufacturing plant. Assembly is quite different in terms of costs.

*Scans back over thread*, no you didn't stipulate. You just said "plant". Guess I mistook you. I just automatically assumed it would be an assembly situation. Never occurred to me they'd spend the billions to make the boards and silicon and chassis and whatnot over here. Wouldn't make sense.

Still, every bit helps. If Ford assembles cars here, rather than in Mexico or Canada, great. Or look at something like a Toyota Camry. 90% American made. More than anything else.

As for the iMac...its days are probably numbered anyways, so I guess its no big deal to move it over here. Its a bit of a niche product. Declining sales.

Has anyone pointed out that fstar is the biggest Microsoft fanboy of all time, and that he's simply jelly of Apple's whopping value while at the same time Microsoft is struggling to stay afloat putting out shoddy product after shoddy product?

To be fair, that whopping value just creeped back up from under 400 after crashing 40%.

MS has by far the best OS and productivity software on the market. And market share that reflects it. They just suck at making MP3 players and tablets that people want to buy. They really are a software business, while Apple is an OEM. Its like comparing GE and Union Pacific because they both have something to do with locomotives.

Windows 8 sucks tho.
