I am not a major executive of a big company, and I don't know anything about macroeconomics... but one thing is for sure, as a business owner, I would without a doubt start altering my business practices well before the law comes into effect. To not do so, especially as a corporation with shareholders, would be incredibly negligent. Truly a great way to get sued if things go poorly after the law is in effect, even if the poor performance has nothing to do with the law.
Will Obamacare have an economic impact on companies? Without a doubt, and a fairly substantial one at that. Will they do everything in their power to minimize the shock of the new regulation, as well as their financial obligations? Yes, of course. To argue otherwise seems to be totally ignoring how businesses actually operate. You don't just say "We'll see what happens." That is absurd. They will be shedding full-time employees as much as they can without harming themselves.
