corn for example produces 2300 lb/acre and americans which eat tons of the stuff eat 1500/year/person. and that's far and away most of the food we eat total (HFCS, feed for animals, etc). and that's just from one harvest of one acre

guys if we all just ate corn we'd be fine. wouldn't be malnourished at all. also soil salinization isn't a real thing so we don't have to worry about arable land.
