Well I think the first step is to drastically reduce the cost of such immigration. Some of the forms can cost you over a $1000.00 to lodge. By making the actual pathway to immigration easier it is going to be easier to detect those crossing in for less legal reasons.

America is NOT a bottomless pit of opportunity for all who can get here. Good intentions might say one thing, but finite says another.

Disagree. We should provide an avenue toward legalization of immigrants already here. This opinion is based upon reality - namely, that it is impossible to deport one-point-whatever-million illegal aliens. Where do you put them? Whose buses do you use? How do you find them?

However, you also increase the crimes for employing, harboring, and otherwise aiding an illegal alien. They are "illegal". Simply by the fact that they are undocumented and in the country, they are violating the law. If you aid them, then you are aiding a criminal. Obviously, if you have no way of knowing this (you bagged their groceries at the market), then you aren't "aiding". But, if you sell them a car, give them a job, provide them with a house/apartment, or do other things that should raise your suspicions, yet you do nothing, then you are "aiding".

For the criminals themselves, I believe that a nice implanted RFID and highly-visible tattoo should make it unlikely that they will return once deported.

(OK, the last sentence is a bit harsh - I'm not really advocating that. I just can't think of any realistic way to prevent illegals from coming back over here, other than pressuring their enabelers).

As for legal immigration, you can come over here once you prove that you have a good job waiting for you, housing lined up, and someone willing to co-sign for you, guaranteeing that you will be a contributing member of society for 5 or 10 years. If you aren't then you get deported and that person is responsible for your debts (repay medical bills you didn't pay, back rent, money owed to the Fed, etc.).

So where is the cutoff, ,or does their ever need to be one? Keep in mind, the concept of finite is not going to change just to suit our idealologies.
