Would you be opposed to hiring Bernie Maddoff to oversee the banks and trading companies in the US? He is one of the biggest fraudsters in modern time, but that means he is also one of the best fraudsters so maybe he can understand and catch fraud better than the average smart guy. What do you think? Would it be a good idea to hire him for the task? Will he do a better job than someone who has never committed fraud? Can he be trusted in the position?

I wouldn't hire him since he's got somewhere else to be for the next 150 years.

Any shitbird can be a crook. The idea that "it takes a thief to catch a thief" comes from the Ali Baba marketing division.

Being a crook doesn't mean you know crooks better than someone who does not succumb to the temptation to steal and defraud. Anyone in the securities trade knows how to cheat the system.

And Madoff was caught by an honest man several years before he was arrested. We just had an SEC that was in a stupor. So the solution is to get cops who actually give shit about catching bad guys.

I say arrest the whole lot, let them squeal on eachother like the pigs they are in an attempt to save their own miserable hides. Pass out the noose where needed as an object lesson to the up comming underlings filling their positions.
