alot of cents

in 1857 the us mint stopped making half-pennies. the value of a half-penny in 1857 is the same value of the dime today.

pennies cost about 2 cents to make each one.

the time has come to stop using them. the only downside is sales tax, really, as they probably will round up with it, because they are bastards. but stores will round down; they already don't wind up to 10 when they want to sell something, they do it for a mere 9.99. changing it to 9.95 isn't that big of deal for them.

nickels cost about a dime to manufacture and continuing to manufacture them is nickel and diming us. canadians have already done away with the penny. which is why we should not follow their lead. we should call them on it and raise them the nickel.
