Reagan RAISED taxes on corporations by hundreds of billions of $'s... He was for a ban on assault weapons.. He gave amnesty to illegals.. No way on God's green earth could he run and win in today's GOP.. That why I find it hilarious and hypocritical when I hear today's GOP leaders and talking heads wishing for the days of Reagan... Bullshit!!

Besides the GOP putting party before country the other thing that bothers me about today's GOP is unless you follow lock step in line with their party's agenda the GOP has no use for you.. It's either their way or the highway.. The very moderate Mitt Romney proved that.. To get the nomination he backtracked and changed his views on just about everything.. He had no original thoughts of his own.. It was all the GOP ideals and agenda..

It's really frustrating to believe that the GOP base is so extreme that candidates risk alienating the center to appease them. That disconnect between the primaries and the general is vast. If Romney hadn't been forced to pretend to be "severely conservative", he very well could have defeated Obama.

2008 Romney was sooo much more palatable than that artifice of him that they custom built for 2012.

Thank you Mr. Bill for pointing out the Reagan things--what's so ironic is that while current GOPers speak of him in messiah-like terms, the reality is that he would be crucified by the TPM for daring to consider working across the aisle.

Can anybody even tell me what the Dem party stands for at this point? Except for: "We're not the GOP?"

Here's an Alex Jones thought: maybe the reason the two parties are so ideologically bankrupt at this point and why we have nothing to fight about except scandals is because the whole left/right thing was an illusion from the start and now it's run its course? Literally, out of ideas?

I would say Obama embodies the worst aspects of both Nixon and Reagan.

Reagan for the bloodbath foreign policy, and Nixon for the deceitful behind the scenes political maneuvering.

OK, no argument here, but the problem is: what is the alternative? The GOP? Bozo time.

That's not defending Obama, that's saying: we're basically left with the option of voting for Nixon again.
