Reciprocity. Hollande and Merkel don't want to take sides in this, because eventually one of their own little birds might escape and start chirping, and they want to have a chance at shooting it. South American countries are generally shitty players in the intelligence game, and have nothing to lose. France and Germany....their hands are as dirty as anyone else's in the West.

I'd call him a traitor if it were foreign/military intelligence or troop movements or whatever he was betraying to the world stage. But domestic surveillance?

I know I know. You've got no disagreement here. I love when I get to talk to people about it and they think I'm going to go against him because I was in the military, then I have to remind them about the Constitution, and the founding principles of the country, and the ideas of liberty.
