In order for that to happen, you need to convince middle America to support increased taxes on the rich.

And isn't that just the most spectacular trick of all? All the middle and lower-class voters who somehow have been apparently hypnotized to believe that THEIR lives will improve if we make sure that already-rich people have more and more money. At their expense.
It really is amazing to watch.
That, and the trickle down/horse & sparrow theory STILL being thrown around as if it has any credibility at this point.

People tolerate it because they still think they can get there someday. If they try really really hard.
When it becomes too obvious that they can't, then there will be some movement.
Truly though, the rich are a lousy source of revenue. There aren't enough of them, and the costs just keep increasing every year anyways. Do we just keep increasing their taxes every year to tread water?

The irony of it all is that a strong middle class lifts people out of the lower class and makes the rich richer. Why anybody would work against that is beyond me.
