immigration is probably the best example of how completely broken our system of government is today.

Well it certainly is an example of how once again, a guy with a decent idea is abandoning it to appeal to the tea party crazies.
And yes, you're completely right we will never have reform under Obama no matter how the good idea because the entire point of the TPM/House is to make sure he never has a "win."

And I'm sure the TP people and GOP people who will praise Rubio for flip-flopping and being tough on immigration reform in their very next breath will reminisce about about the good old days of Reagan..
Of course don't spoil their reminiscing by telling them Reagan signed an immigration bill which included amnesty.

The TPM people would rip Reagan apart for his liberalism, even though they invoke him at every turn.
Here's the funny part: black, Latinos and other non-whites cost Romney the election last year. Yet here we are in 2013 and the TPM has decided they can STILL win without them.
Good luck with that.

You're right--they can control the house and that's it.
Which means what: just years and years of obstruction from now on? //shudder

Immigration is a real "heads I win, tails you lose" issue for Democrats. With the 2014 elections in sight, they can make Republicans choose between supporting an "amnesty" bill and upsetting their base OR having to oppose an immigration bill in a long and well publicized battle and losing every last Hispanic vote. Clearly Republicans have made their decision.
