There's a big, big difference between decriminalizing and legalizing.. As the article said: "While he does not favor legalization..."

Probably still talking about HUGE fines.. Though fines are better than prison terms.

meh, I doubt it. It's not like there are stiff penalties against it, really. Mostly people who get fines like that don't have any money and sit it out $100 a day at 3 for 1 and they are clogging up the system.

Basically weed is a pain in the ass for law enforcement. Huge fines doesn't really solve that it makes it worse and they wouldn't ever get much money out of it.

When they decriminalize it means generally means a small amount for personal use is ignored by LE. Weed is decriminalized, not legal, in Amsterdam, for example.

Damn, what are us snooty northeasterners going to do when Texas of all f**k places beats us to the 21st century on weed laws?

A move to Austin sounds better and better.

That said i live in a state that largely looks the other way with Pot (AZ). We have our hard asses but the local cops just dont give a shit, its mostly the DPS and MCSO that throw the book at you. We have a defacto weed legalization with soft enforcement. Most get the heavy wag of the finger rather then the threatening shove of the barrel in your face.
