Just because that's what they were doesn't mean that's how it was set up.

I think people should really pay attention to what's been ruled now:

If money = free speech
And corporations are people and they have money with which normal citizens can't even try to compete,
Then corporations have more free speech than citizens.

That is by definition a tier system.

Yeah just because they specifically said only white males who own land can vote doesn't mean they wanted to keep the masses from having a say.

I always hated the money = speech argument. For example, If money is speech, then why is prostitution still illegal. Aren't you just telling the woman that you want to sleep with her ?

I don't think this ruling matters very much though, since the existence of Super-PACs has already removed all limits for individual contribution, which is why so many top Republicans are going to Vegas to kiss Adelson's ring.

The founding fathers were in favor of a much more rigid class system than what we have now. I think the founding father argument is stupid in general though, what may have been reasonable in 1776 is not at all reasonable today. Technically the founding fathers wanted slavery.

But the unlimited campaign contributions is basically legalized bribery which will only make the U.S. economy more inefficient and will increase rent seeking by organizations.
