I'll admit I am torn on this issue. If a protest is peaceful, then these drones are certainly an encroachment on the protestors right to gather. However, if a protest escalates to a violent level, it becomes a question of do you risk sending in police officers which will put them in direct danger, or do you do what the military does in protecting its ground troops and air force by using unmanned drones? Tough call as I can see both sides of the argument here in regards to riot control. As for your other examples, I agree with you 100%. Drones don't need to be reading my license plate. Let investigators to their own ground work.

Americans have a duty to protest when our government f**k up, drones or not.

If they fly them, then they will just have to be taken out.

Shotgun will work fine. (assuming that these are the smallish paintball gun wielding machines I'm envisioning. If not...perhaps a souped up net launcher of some kind? Hmmm...actually just shooting some sort of string at them should tangle up the rotors...)

Now that I think about it...what we need are anti-drone drones. Even cheap kamikaze drones. Wouldn't take much to bring this shit down...and these are the sorts of things that top my list of government property that deserves some righteous wanton destruction...

this is why i don't want police using drones. they're going to insist on old military ones because they're f**k flower of paradise and the second one of those old predators breaks down mid-flight and takes out a suburban family there better be riots.
