Wow, am I going to go way off topic here:
No matter where any of us here stand politically here, the libs, cons, middle of the road, whatever, we all agree on one thing.. For the most part, the American public is pretty stupid, maybe spoiled is a better word, or apathetic, But most Americans care more about when the next iPhone is being released, or who's on Dancing with the Stars, or who Tom Cruise is nailing, than we do about politics, or what's going on on Wall Street, or being lied to every time any of the politicians open then mouth..
BUT we all love our freedoms.. And being apathetic and spoiled is most definitely part of our freedoms..
So this thread is an interesting place to discuss our freedoms vs are we smart enough to handle those freedoms.. Freedom takes SOME responsibility.. Maybe as a society we've become so stupid, and apathetic we need someone, in this case the courts to keep us from being fat, to tell us what's good for us...

Many facets to this issue here. Part of me is inclined to the proposed idea. Part of me is inclined to let the ignorant trash eat themselves into an early grave. Part of me sympathizes with them because as someone who battles dependencies of various sorts recurrently I understand the struggle (for those with legitimate eating disorders). Which goes back to sticking it to the demonic industries selling fleeting enjoyment and death.
What is really indisputable in my mind is how sad and wrong it is that children who don't know any better and are being fed poisons and toxins by their ignorant, shitty parents. Anytime you see are really fat child stuffing his/her face with deep fried fat and sucking down high fructose corn syrup and sugar water laced with high caffeine content there is inevitably a negligent, ignorant, piece of shit guardian lurking somewhere in the background.
The American diet is unbelievable. I've seen comparative studies and it's just off the meters. Nothing comparable.
If you're given to paranoia it's like, "here, watch these socially depraved exercises in the vacuously absurd, play with your techno gadgets and toys and eat yourself to an early death....anything to keep you sheeple out of our business of lording it over the world."

The fact is our food supply is woefully inadequate and for the most part doesn't provide wholesome nutrition. So many additives are included in everything that many people don't even know real food is any more and when they see any they think it's disgusting.
Meanwhile the average state of health is declining badly. You can't blame the masses for what they are fed. They simply can't afford the high end "health food" (really just actual food) at is available at Whole Foods.
