This is horrible. Good job, government motors. High cost and low sales equals crap. Any other company would fold on this model and move on. But not when Obummer is standing behind you with a blank check of our tax dollars!! Yay!!

"nd while the loss per vehicle will shrink as more are built and sold, GM is still years away from making money on the Volt, which will soon face new competitors from Ford, Honda and others."
pretty sure every product takes gross "loss" when it is initially developed and sold.
pharmaceuticals anyone? while expensive in relative terms they still "take a loss" on every pill sold until their money is made back in X amount of years.
plus this is only has to do with single car model. if a pfizer drug for high blood pressure sold poorly it wouldn't be an indication that the company was a failure.
ALSO your assertion that GM is somehow being....what, protected by the government over the volt? that's laughable and wrong.

yeah i don't see how efficiency, something capitalists LITERALLY masturbate about on a daily basis, is derided when it comes to the auto industry.

Correction, the volt is a hybrid isunt it.
Either way, considering the limits of battery tech and the fact its going to take ages to convert to a hydrogen based fuel economy. Hard to really argue that its a bad idea long term.
And long term is something as I hoped we would have learned from the funtastic times in 2007-8 is something the market is shit at.
