yeah canada has a big piece of their economy based on extraction so the tumbling price of oil hurts them

the first two are probably largely entangled with the third one. net exports of energy were like 3+% gdp in recent years. it's not really surprising that the economy would falter
western canada, you're more than welcome to apply for statehood
