Capital punishment should only be handed out only when there is 100% proof of guilt. 100% is easier to reach these days then in the past. For certain things, capital punishment should be automatic with no deals only after 100% is reached. Like using a gun and someone is killed.

How do you reach 100% of guilt without say, a videotape of the killing or a confession?

again this isn't an issue with the punishment but the finding of guilt. all punishments are irrevocable. spending 1 day behind bars cannot be undone. if someone is wronglyfuly executed, of course the state owes weregild, but this hasn't been shown. and even if it was, again, it's about our finding of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

capital punishment is the only morally correct punishment for murders, anything else is an abortion of justice. if he was convicted of that wrongfully, that's an issue with the courts.

Yea I saw that. I'm not going to be too harsh on the prosecutor, he seemed genuinley sucked by the fact that he helped put an innocent guy on death row. I don't think there was much malice in what he did, it seemed more like a young aggressive guy who thought the defendant was guilty and used every trick or piece of leverage he had to get the conviction.

The current DA though...good god he should be hung from the nearest lamp post. What a shitty shitty person, continuing to go on TV to this day justifying why the guy deserved nothing more than a $20 gift card for 30 years in jail. What a disgusting piece of shit.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Prosecutors are f**k criminals and I have little to no respect for any of them.

Its time to take a hard look at what people can be punished for. With prison for profit on the rise, also will be the petty things that can make you a criminal. USA = pillar of personal freedom and all, but has more people locked up then the rest of the world combined. That's a hmmm moment that needs immediate upgrade to a genuine WTF moment.
