GOP presidential hopeful Ben Carson on Wednesday seemed to give contradicting statements when he said it was very easy to mislead uneducated people into thinking that providing college education was a good thing.

The remarks, made at Liberty University in Virginia, seemed to be a swipe at Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders, who has said that higher education should be funded by states and the federal government, according to The Hill. Carson said doing so would lead to “the destruction of the nation.”

The model is currently in practice in other highly-developed countries that have yet to be destroyed, like Germany and Finland.

Carson, who believes that the Egyptian pyramids were built by the biblical figure Joseph, cautioned against being ill-informed without addressing the role higher education plays in informing.

“It becomes easy to swallow things,” the retired neurosurgeon told the audience. “If you don’t understand our financial situation and someone comes along and says, ‘free college for everybody,’ they’ll say, ‘oh how wonderful,’ and have no idea they’re talking about hastening the destruction of the nation.”

The prevalent idea SHOULD be that the more educated a population, the more WEALTH that can be created, better FAMILY outcomes, less violence, less disease, less old age poverty. And those are just the TOP considerations. I think the idea of at least a 2 year education post high school is a damn good start.

This is simply more anti-intellectual, anti-education propaganda, a transparent attempt to keep a population under-educated because then you are more likely to vote for people like Ben Carson.

There are plenty of countries that provide college for FREE and don't bankrupt themselves doing it. Here we have people who want to run the country into the ground because a dumber populace means easier victories for them, so they come up with all sorts of absurd rationales why not going to college should be a widespread expectation.

Oh unless it's their kids of course--or them. Of course, they can afford the best of the best private universities.

But the less educated you are, the less you're likely to question things like oh, I don't know: that the pyramids were used to store grain.

What you absolutely need, though, according to the Ben Carsons of the world, is the Good Book. As long as you're drinking the Jesus Juice, you don't need no elitist education.

"Nothing is free", says this taxpayer. Besides, a trade school would be more cost and job placement effective then regular college for most.
