Honestly, this shit is irrelevant. Let the Mexicans pay a premium. There are only a few countries that can produce like the US, and not everyone can buy from Brazil or Australia. We will not struggle to find a market.

And good point about oil. Jesus christ share is really blowing up, USA set to be numero uno oil producer in 2018. What a weapon that will be against our enemies, particularly if we continue reducing consumption here at home. We imported something like 12m barrels a day in 2007, now it's like 2.5. Russia or Saudi want to f**k around we open the spigot and tank the market. UGH I really do f**k love it because these countries have had it coming since the 1970s. We should be ruthless.

Not sure Obama or any political had much to do with the rise of shale. This is just a warm hearted tale of capitalism and American ingenuity - there is so much money to be made in oil you bet we would eventually find a way to capitalise on that market. It's actually quite nuts because most of these shale drillers are not large corps, its mid sized companies half of whom go bankruptcy when the market tanks. Really just a bunch of guys out there scrapping and pulling oil out of their ass. It's beautiful though because unlike Saudi or Russia, when prices drop we get MORE efficient.

For most of the Obama years the shale revolution was still coming online. But now we are at a point where we are the swing producer, we will pump more oil this year than we have since 1970, and will reclaim out title as the number one oil producer. The market is there, the oil is there - now we need a coordinated government effort to use the price of oil as a political weapon. We should be doing everything we can to drive the price into the ground until the Saudis and Russians call uncle.
