I don't have a source, but does it really matter at this point?
Anyways, I'm trying to delete the content, but not profiles, of Facebook and Instagram. All likes, groups, pages, photos, reviews, etc. should be cleansed, but I need to maintain a personal account so I can manage various pages for organizations I'm involved with. Further, if I simply try to delete the accounts, these platforms create "ghost profiles," where I'll still have people tagging me, but without any control over what is associated with my name on social media.
The reality is that I'm quitting these platforms because I'm now sickened by them, and what they've done to our society, and how influential they've become. If it were possible for me to simply delete my account and all associated data, I would. But various professional/charitable obligations prevent me from doing so.
Further to the point, there is no mechanism to remove all content without deleting your entire profile. I've spent thirty minutes a night deleting posts and photos, etc., manually. I can't just mass select all photos or all posts and delete them, while also preventing Facebook from creating a ghost profile on me.
Even if I were want to just delete my profile without first removing all content associated with my name, I have to wait 30 days before that deletion actually happens. Which means, in the meantime, I can still be tagged by friends and what not. In my case, I've already removed all friends. But most don't have the time or care to do so.
There needs to be laws on the book about this.
If you submit data online, to a private platform, you should be able to delete it easily and without waiting. There should also be no requirement to maintain an "individual specific" profile.
