The Emergency Measures Act has been enacted. I agree that it has gone on long enough. I also agree that if they are needed, the military ought to be deployed, with as much force applied as is necessary to permanently disperse these protests.

The rightwing has been allowed and incentivized to do things in this way for many years. I have always argued that the governments of North America have been too lenient, allowing these people to take over and occupy government and public property, often with the implicit or explicit threat of violence. When the government fails to respond accordingly, we are always told it is to avoid further violence. I submit such violence has been inevitable for many years.

I don't think they should be called protests when they are holding hostage public property to enforce demands. that's what rebels do, not protestors (which I would define as publicly voicing opinion in opposition to that of the government).

i disagree, i think they are both attacks. i'm not going to be schizo about it like the GOP who pass laws to allow people to run over protestors but then also support this if it's "their protestors", i think they all are criminals and should be treated as such (no, they shouldn't be run over, they should be arrested). want to protest in public space? get a permit

that said at least you agree about the international crossing. still, I don't really see much difference with the ottawa situation

I think bad actors in our societies are starting to figure out what our adversaries have done on social media and they're replicating the efforts to push their own agenda. Here's an interesting podcast:
