Meh, that's back when things were all buddy-buddy. And posting your pic isn't really that personal. I can post my pic, and never tell you a thing about me and you'd never, ever know anything about me or where I'm from or what I'm doing. Throw in a couple of bits though, and it's a whole different story.
And sometimes they are empty threats, surely. But every once in awhile, you'll get somebody with an ego who gets irate enough to actually follow through with something like that.
