After discussion with uebermann we have come to the following agreement.

Our goal going forward is to attempt to allow unrestrained discussion of demographics as much as possible but we will not tolerate bashing of an entire demographic. Discussion along the lines of fixing or what the problem was, but not things like "boomers will be the death of us all" , "all boomers suck" , etc. Basically we will treat it like if it were a racial bash. If we can't keep the threads from turning into bashfests, then we will re-evaluate our position. We hope that we don't have to go that route.

We will attempt to allow a lot of leeway in regards to individual posts because we understand that many members use slang or terms that others find offensive. However, as stated above, if the use of them turns the thread into a bashfest, we will take whatever action is necessary to stop it.

What I've just said is our policy going forward. Do not attempt to push it to the limits to test our policy or that policy may change.

Now feel free to discuss what I just posted and ask questions or give examples for clarification in this thread. The better informed you are here, the less problems we will have in the other forums.

Ok, so for clarification, a lot of tension came from previous comments I've made that Boomers are a very narcissistic generation. Obviously that doesn't mean it applies to every individual, but I'm describing how I see the character of the generation as a whole. It would be like saying millennials are very computer literate. No one would argue with that statement yet I'm sure you cold find examples of millennials who aren't good with technology every once in a while. So is what I said ok?

Again, look at what I said and based on what I said, does your example fit that criteria?

I think it falls within what's allowed as it first of all was said to make a larger point about the relationships between generations in society not just as some kind and insult and second was obviously not intended to apply to every single boomer.

Here's the point. You explained what you said but you didn't have to because it was apparent in your post. Also, it's doubtful your post would lead into a bashfest either based on what I read. While there may always be exceptions (because some people take offense to anything), in general your post does not violate the rules.
