When I look over this forum, keep in mind that I'm new here, I see that other suspensions are announced. I didn't see an announcement for either Mr. Shaman's suspension, nor Philly's. Is that not done any more? I can see how announcing a suspension or ban could really help others by reminding them of the rules and consequences, thereof.

I'm no longer suspended

most of the time no one's suspension is announced. seems ridiculous (it's inviting people to talk about/question the suspension, which is not needed; the mods already discussed it), and it seems ridiculous to ask about it right away, and, most of the time, that's what PMs are for.

He asked because there's a thread in the announcements section that claims will be updated whenever there's a new suspension. I don't think there needs to be an explanation for every suspension but it's good to let the rest of the forum know the duration.

when i used to be a mod on a previous life of this forum (when we had hundreds of active members daily) i would be annoyed to no end with the constant second guessing of the mod's enforcement of the rules. i often suspended people myself even if i wasn't the one to make the decision (and rarely was actually) and even when i disagreed with the suspension but we had a democratic thing going on so i was overruled, simply because some other mods got a lot of shit for it and i was perfectly fine with everyone thinking i was a bully. still when someone questioned it it would just make me angry. i already had had the conversation with the other mods. questioning it seemed more like an attack on the mods than anything else.

on the other hand, it's all behind closed doors. still, you can easily make out what they did, as their offensive posts are not moved into the trash can or anything

I assume uber created the active suspensions thread so he wouldn't have to explain it to multiple people over PM.

It's a very old thread, he probably just forgot about it.

This place already smells better.
