Merge General Discussion and Soapbox?

I've seen a few General Discussion threads get moved to the Soapbox recently. I want to propose just merging the Soapbox into General Discussion. The reason I think that this would be a good idea is that the standards for making General Discussion threads are archaic. They made sense back on old PCF when we had a lot more members and maintaining order was more difficult, but with our current traffic and level of familiarity it seems entirely unnecessary.
Just an idea.

I agree, good idea. People would be more apt to start threads, I think.

Who looks at specific forums anymore. I just click "view active topics". Maybe I click "view your posts" if I want to continue with a flaming thread with one of my PCF friends.

Yeah I always do "View Active Topics" to check threads, but you have to go into an individual forum to create a new thread.

I see the idea of forum consolidation is being implemented. Glad I was able to help with this great idea. Guess this thread has now become moot though.

GD and Soapbox will not be merged. Ever. They serve very different functions.
The forums that are looking at being consolidated are those that basically have the same thing going on, but way too specific a topic.
