Protests in Ferguson, Missouri

I'm going out on a limb here, but I know that a lot of articles tend to point out that 50 of the 53 officers are white, when like 76% or so of the population in Ferguson are African American. Does anybody know the percentages of cops that are white? Isn't our military predominately white, which makes up most of our cops too? White people do make up the largest population in this country so isn't rather easy to have a majority white cop shop?

I work in a school that's predominately 65-75% African American, and out of our 350+ staff we only have like 50 AA teachers. Can't this be said for most industries in the United States? I don't think Racism has anything to do with it, its just a purely numbers perspective.

Even if we accept your absurd premise that a 95% white police force in a majority black community is explained by more white people pursuing a career in law enforcement, you act like that somehow mitigates that actual problem. We need community policing. When the police are so starkly non-reflective of the community, it is a problem, regardless of how the problem came to be. If your premise is accurate, it still needs to be corrected by finding ways to encourage black citizens to join the police force. Yeah, affirmative action DUN DUN DUUUUUUUN
