I've come in contact with several APD officers that were vets and were still complete professionals, very nice guys. Think about what most WWII vets went through and how they acted when they got back. That behavior is nutty by OUR standards now, the reaction to something like that occurring in the media in the 1950s would have been amazing. lol

So, that mentality is unacceptable for our society, not excuseble because he's a vet

soldiers are not trained to look at everyone as an enemy, and even in combat there are rules of engagement that state who is and is not to be considered combatants. police have an informal r.o.e. that states poor people and minorities are "the enemy", so that is why they get shot all of the time

cops have an "us against them" mentality because that is the true nature of our social structure. their purpose is to suppress the domestic population. The purpose of the military is to suppress foreign population in countries that are occupied. ideally the twain shall never meet.

that's how it is going to be as long as this country is an oligarchy controlled by the MIC rather than a functioning democratic society

that cop said that stuff is a product, a symptom if you will, of the social disease that has gripped humanity in the highly destructive form of modern industrial society that currently controls most of the planet

yeah, that's true to a certain extent but it also indicates that the issue is indeed systemic and that at best the mission is not being transmitted clearly

unless it's not seen as an issue and suppression IS the mission. In some cases it certainly is, and I think we are beginning to see more and more cases where this mission and it's goals are being applied to what was formerly the "middle class" as they are being forced into precarity by economic forces beyond their control.

the american public has been essentially neutralized as a political force by society dominated by electronic media, consumption, and surveillance.

we've become a nation of spectators, and all we can do sit and watch as forces beyond our control shape our destiny as a species.

I personally oppose this, I don't know about you guys.
