American Sniper bugs me...

Finally saw this yesterday. The film is very bad: terrible pacing, zero sympathetic characters, simplistic us-and-them morality and lots of tired clichés (like the guy who gets the diamond for his fiancée who then gets shot in the face about 2 seconds later). Also Chris Kyle is the most unlikable protagonist I think I've ever come across.

Strangely I want to see this movie now...just to see how much it glorifies like propaganda of the past.

Sounds like Zero Dark Thirty blew this movie out of the water.

Its a good movie, no doubt. You guys just need to cast aside your political bias when seeing it. Its amazing how if we looked back at some of our most glorified US soldiers from the past, we would find all kinds of things that aren't accepted today. Hell, if a US general today spoke like Patton did then he would be relieved of command.

The man did multiple tours in wars that were very unpopular and costly. Going past his potential quirks or awkward statements, the man did alot of time and most of us need to remember that other people are doing tough jobs we choose not too. All soldiers should be remembered like he is.

Yeah the guy sounds like a D-bag. The the whole "he murdered 150 people" things is nonsense. Unless all soldiers ever are murderers.
