The problem is, any solution that won't get the pro-NRA crowds panties in a wad is going to take money. All weekend long I read things like (including bad ideas) arm the teachers, have an armed guard here, have an armed guard there, etc.. These solutions, while viable, will cost money.

We have members of our society more concerned about shirking their tax responsibilities and those who defend it (83 of the top 100 publicly traded companies have tax-havens) than recongize it costs money to fund their proposed solutions.

Like all problems there is more then one reason..

We live in a violent society that glorifies violence, and death. Hollywood makes movies showing some smiling nut butchering teenagers.. Look at our entertainment, it says all we need to know about our society.

We live in a society where a teacher is armed to the teeth which includes assault weapons..

We live in a society that instead of treating the mentally ill, all most doctors will do, and parents will do is stuff some pills down the disturbed person's throat.. The fast easy way to treat someone, give them pills..

We got lots of stuff and toys, but for the most part we Americans are not a very happy people.

Arming everybody is a stupid, stupid idea.

It's like saying: all the houses on the block keep burning down, so let's make sure everybody has... a fire hose?

Um, how about trying to prevent this sort of thing rather than catering to it? Which is what that "solution" is.

I hate to say it but I thought then and I think now that Michael Moore was on to something with the Columbine movie--and it wasn't necessarily gun control.

Assault weapons should be banned.. There's no reason any citizen needs an assault rifle.. That will piss off the Conservatives..

The death penalty needs to be brought back for mass killings. That will piss of the liberals.. If I plan out and kill my wife and I'm caught I will spend my life in jail... If I plan and kill 25 people and I am caught I will spend my life in jail.. There's needs to be a difference.. And on the fast track.. The nut who shot up the theater in Colorado should be tried, convicted and put to death within 2 years.. Tops.

Yes I know, most of these nuts end up dead anyway, but still 25 dead deserves more of a penalty than 1 dead..

Never, ever broadcast the name, or show a pix of the mass killer.. Report the story all you want, but DO NOT give the killer 1 second of publicity..
