The biggest issue facing the Palestinians is the fact that the Western world is completely ignorant of most of the history of this conflict. The default, unquestioned assumption is that Israel has merely acted to defend itself, and was victimized by the Arab world. That is a hopelessly simplistic understanding of what has gone on, and the only way Palestine will ever see justice is if the West puts the right amount of pressure on Israel to stop what it has been doing.

Alas, as this thread has shown, even being confronted with first-hand evidence, literally from the people responsible for making decisions, isn't enough to prove that these assumptions are untrue. The cognitive dissonance cannot be dispelled by fact alone, it appears.

We're not ignorant of it, the premise is stupid that's all, Palestinians could have an independent state tommorrow if they just accepted that the right of return is a moronic concept, as well as Israel should accept the removing of all the settlements and returning to the 1967 border arrangement.

I don't see why anyone would think they have a chance of coming out on top if they stay and continue to fight. Eventually they are going to do something that really does kill a lot of Israelis and then they are going to get stomped like a bug when the gloves come off.
