I still don't know why money is taken from me to feed someone else. Charity should be a private org. thing.

I'm a recovering drug addict. I've said that on this forum before. IN fact on he 22nd of this month will be my 8 year sobriety birthday. wow lol.
Because of this, I spend a lot of my time around poor people, drug addicts (recovery meetings, helping out, doing step work, etc) and poor families. I have an extremely good understanding of how the "system" works , the ins, the outs, etc.
I'm going to tell you some things that you probably don't know that are probably going to piss you off
1. did you know that there is a federal grant, which has about a year left, it's called the access to recovery grant to be specific, that gives anyone who either has a child under the age of 18, who is a war vet, or who has had a DUI in the last 6 months a $650 dollar supplemental needs grants, plus pays for housing at a residential treatment facility for up to 6 months in some cases
2. Did you know that upon being released from prison that that unless you have a drug manufacturing charge on your record, all new releases are eligible for 200 dollars of food stamps for up to 1 year as long as youd n't make over $1,170 a month. Guaranteed. NO if's and's or buts.
3. This is what is really going to kill you. upon release from prison if moving to a transitional housing facility, a person will have his rent paid for an entire year by the state. rent free. nothing.
I have met thousands, tens of thousands of recovering drug addicts and alcoholics. The system has created a "screw it" culture. Get in trouble, go to jail, get out, kick it at the residential facility with my cable TV and food stamps watch TV all day, smoke some weed, etc. this is at least. 80% of all people who get released from prison
there are a few that get their crap together, go out and get a job and become a productive member of society. But these people were going to be productive with or without the money 10 out of 10 times. ]'
I was, and really am a democrat but the more time I spend around poor people, drug addicts, hell I'm one myself the more i am repulsed by the laziness, the lack of urgency and the mentality of the people I met. Even in my addiction, I bought my own damn food, paid my own bills, etc. I never looked for handouts and you have people who just scrounge off the government like this for years on end.
With all that said, I draw the line at he kids. The kids have no choice. But obnce you hit 18 if you can't feed yourself, tough doo doo buddy. I'm sorry. I see too much to give a damn anymore.

Most of the welfare programs are there so the middle class, and especially the rich don't have to live in fear.. That's common knowledge.
Also we now have a service economy. Go a head and take away the entitlements and then see what happens to the economy.. Besides the poor and elderly having less money to spend which would hurt the economy, the middle class and rich would also spend less because they wouldn't/ couldn't go out and use those services as much..
70% of our economy is based on services.. That's a lot, hell it's probably too much.. It's one of the reasons why the economy only does really good is when we are in a 'bubble'... A 'bubble' means we have more money to spend on services..
A service economy where the people spend less on services leads to the economy suffering big time.
Anyway I posted this mostly to show how propaganda is alive and well on certain media outlets..
