Just as I predicted in the Zimmerman trial thread feds would step in and try him on something like civil rights violation- they did the same thing with the cops at the Rodney King incident. Strange, if every case that was lost by state prosecution would be taken over by the feds the courts would be jam packed even more, I wonder who decides that (other than the obvious suspects- POTUS, AGOTUS).

zimmerman's black (and very attractive) defense team legal intern says she never thought zimmerman was a racist or was profiling in a racist way
zimmerman might have had some sort of hero complex but he wasn't motivated by race

I'm very confused...how can a completely private non-state actor violate the civil rights of another?
*edit, oh here's how:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Sh ... ention_Act feds may be playing with fire here. at first blush to use this law in this case may be unconstitutional.

I severely doubt the DOJ is going to do anything with this at all. In the eyes of the law, Zimmerman's actions were self defense. While the family can go for wrongful death, the state taking any approach that undermines the official court ruling would be dangerously close to double jeopardy.
